Therapy for Adults

Many adults wonder how to select the right therapist. At our practice, we have noticed that clients often wonder if they have to choose between working with someone empathetic and supportive, or working with someone more ‘clinical,’ who would use evidence-based practices.  We believe a psychotherapist should be both. We understand that our clients want a therapist who is smart and highly qualified, but who is also a great person. Research has shown clearly that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is the key to effective treatment.

At Resnik and Associates, therapy is focused on helping you achieve your goals. We know our busy clients want to work with someone who is focused on results–helping you feel better and truly achieving your potential. Our psychotherapists are committed to using evidence-based treatments. Our therapists integrate cognitive behavior therapy, skills training, insight oriented work, and mindfulness techniques. We work collaboratively with clients to honor your preferences and help you achieve your personal goals.

We can help with challenges such as:

* Trouble coping with strong feelings–anxiety, depression, stress, frustration

*Parenting stress

*Coping with stress around life transitions

*Relationship issues

*Managing OCD (learning to control obsessions, compulsions, phobias)

*Becoming ‘unstuck’ so you can be at your best

We also offer Parenting Groups that focus on practical ideas for raising strong, resilient pre-teens and teens. Groups are led by Ms. Katie Austin, an experienced psychotherapist with expertise in adolescence. Groups are offered:
