Katie Austin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with teenagers, children and parents in individual, group and family settings.  Katie has experience with a wide variety of evidence based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Skill Building.  Katie uses a collaborative approach, working with her clients and their families to achieve their goals.

Katie works with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, self-injurious behavior, poor impulse control, poor decision-making, low self-esteem/poor self-image, difficulty coping, school stress, family conflict, poor social skills, difficult behaviors in school or at home, stress management, anger management, and difficulties in communication.  Katie believes that parental involvement is essential in treatment and welcomes collaboration with other key providers.

Katie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland.  Katie earned her Masters in Social Work at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2013. Katie graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Arts is Psychology.  Katie has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including: psychiatric inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and private practice.

Personal Life

Katie enjoys being outside, yoga, cooking, reading, family games and renovating her old farmhouse with her husband.  Katie is the proud momma of three inspiring children.  Katie’s fun fact: her socks rarely match J
