Fourteen years ago, she founded her practice to create both a center of clinical excellence and a place where every client is valued as an individual with unique gifts. Dr. Resnik believes that every person we see should leave feeling more hopeful, less stressed, and with a plan in hand for overcoming challenges.

Credentials

Dr. Resnik earned a Doctor of Psychology degree from The George Washington University. Dr. Resnik completed her psychology internship training in Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital. Her two year Post-Doctoral Residency in Psychological and Neuropsychological Assessment was completed at Mindwell Psychology in Virginia. Dr. Resnik is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Maryland. She has been qualified as an Expert Witness in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC. Dr. Resnik holds a Master of Education in Special Education (concentration in Learning Disabilities) from The University of Maryland at College Park. which was ranked 11th in the country at the time. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education (Cum Laude and with Honors) from UMCP with a concentration in Learning Disabilities.

Professional Life and Service

Dr. Resnik is the 2022-2023 President of The Maryland Psychological Association. She has served for ten years on the association’s Board of Directors. In 2017, Dr. Resnik was honored with the Outstanding Volunteer Contribution Award at the MPA State Convention. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Washington Independent Services for Educational Resources (WISER), a professional group dedicated to the needs of students with learning differences. Dr. Resnik is also a member of The American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (Affiliate Member), the International Mind Brain and Education Society, Exceptional Minds (X-Minds), CHADD, The American Professional Society on ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD), The Reading League, International Dyslexia Association, and Learning Disabilities Association of America/Montgomery County. Her research interests include applications of computational linguistics in clinical psychology and mental health.

In 2014, Dr. Resnik co-founded the first Computational Linguistics and Clinical Psychology workshop, held at the Association for Computational Linguistics annual international conference. She continues to serve as organizer, reviewer, and discussant for the Workshop (now in its 8th year). Dr. Resnik served as a Clinical Panel Consultant to for the Jelinek Workshop in Speech and Language Technology at the Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Resnik has published research with computational linguist collaborators focused on how language technology can enhance psychological practice (such as by identifying people at risk of suicide)

Speaking/Lectures/Training

Dr. Rebeca Resnik is an acclaimed speaker at national conferences and podcasts as well as local events. Dr. Resnik is an approved American Psychological Association Continuing Education Provider. This means she provides advanced training to other psychologists at the post doctoral level.

Dr. Resnik has presented three times at the Maryland Psychological Association’ s Annual Conference. In 2020, she presented on Neuropsychological Assessment of Gifted and Twice Exceptional Students. In Nov. of 2017, she and Dr. R Patrick Savage were selected to be the Featured Presenters at the Maryland Psychological Association’s Annual State Conference, and conducted a 6 hour Continuing Education Course for psychologists titled Neuropsychological Interpretation of Achievement Tests: The Quest for Convergent Validity. She and Dr. Linda McGhee presented a three hour course at the conference in 2014 called First Do No Harm: The Ethics of Psychological Assessment. 

Dr. Resnik presents at national/international events such as: The Veterans Association Brain Summit , Digital Innovation in Mental Health Conference (London, England),  the International Conference on ADHD, The Reading League National Convention, the Erik Erickson Conference at Austen Riggs Hospital, the Independent Education Consultant Association’s National Conference, the Learning Disabilities Association of America National Conference, and at the North American Association for Computational Linguistics Annual Conference.

Dr. Resnik also speaks at local events, including the Montgomery County Administrator’s Annual Leadership Conference, Lab School’s Lecture Series, Partnership for Extraordinary Minds, The Association of Academic Therapists (Keynote for the annual conference, 2023), Cecily’s Advocacy Day Conference,  Diamonds in the Rough Special Education Conference, the Computing in Healthcare workshop at Georgetown University, the University of Maryland’s Center for Language Sciences, the Norwood School Lecture Series, and for the University of Maryland Autism Research Consortium (UMAARC). Resnik also enjoys speaking for private companies and schools, including Choice Hotels International, the Norwood School, the Barrie School, the Auburn School, The University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS), the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, Holy Trinity School, and Educational Connections Inc.

Dr. Resnik is a serious Podcast enthusiast. Dr. Resnik loves sharing her enthusiasm for psychology. In 2016, she wrote the book A Family’s First Guide to ADHD which was published by the LiveWell Press. She also enjoys helping journalists with quotes (including The New York Times, the Boston Globe and Real Simple Magazine). In the summer of 2020, she published an article about “Fearless Advocacy” for Attention Magazine. She has been featured on Fox News, Let’s Talk Live and Voice of America. She served as a Medical Expert for Medhelp in the ADHD and Learning Disability Forums.

Personal Life

Dr. Resnik is married to a College Professor and resides in Bethesda. She and her husband love raising their two wonderful boys and two very silly dogs. Dr. Resnik is super proud of her stepson, an alum of Brown University, who works as a Political Strategist and Chief of Staff at Main Street One.
