Does your family member need more than once a week therapy, but not a program that would take them away from their home and school?
CASS is a new therapy service at Rebecca Resnik and Associates Psychological Care that meets the needs of children, teens, and transitional aged youth that are experiencing an increase in mental health symptoms and need more support than traditional psychotherapy alone.
CASS is all about restoring stability and increasing resilience. It is designed to be short term and highly personalized. The CASS program focuses on skill building and collaboration with families and school systems to help transition the young person back to a place of stability.
Why CASS?
- CASS is outpatient therapy, not inpatient/hospital care
- CASS offers highly personalized care based on your needs and goals
- CASS delivers an average of 4 hours of treatment per week for approximately 4 weeks in our North Bethesda office and via telehealth (as appropriate)
- The CASS treatment approach minimizes school absence and disruption
- Children and teens taking part in CASS can continue individual therapy with their familiar team of outpatient providers
- CASS clinicians support the whole family to promote lasting improvement
- CASS includes school support and guidance to minimize the impact of mental health symptoms on educational achievement

Is CASS a good fit?
CASS is designed for individuals coping with:

- School avoidance
- Individuals who are struggling with unhealthy coping behaviors such as self-injury, passive suicidal ideaion, isolation/withdrawal, and/or an increase in interpersonal conflicts
- Difficulty getting relief and returning to daily life with outpatient therapy alone
- Vulnerability–specifically being at-risk for symptom contagion or undue influence if they were placed group psychiatric settings with troubled or aggressive peers
When is CASS not the right fit?
- When the primary diagnosis is related to substance abuse, eating disorders, or thought disorders (psychosis, schizophrenia)
- Individuals who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum level 2 or 3 (non-speaking individuals who do not have an effective communication system for participating in psychotherapy and/or a diagnosis of intellectual disability)
- When there is current active suicidal ideation, primary safety concerns, and/or moderate to severe treatment interfering behaviors
- A higher level of care such as IOP, PHP or in-patient hospitalization has been medically indicated
