Dr. Helen Ehlers is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families to address concerns including anxiety, depressed mood, family stressors, transitions, social challenges, sleep disturbance, feeding difficulties, self-esteem, grief and loss, and difficulties related to medical conditions/procedures.

Dr. Ehlers strives to utilize evidence-based treatments, primarily focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). She has completed training and certificate course work in CBT. Services may integrate biofeedback, play therapy, mindfulness, social skills training, family therapies, teletherapy, or acceptance focused approaches based on individual needs. Dr. Ehlers values the uniqueness and strengths of each individual she meets.

Background & Credentials

Dr. Ehlers earned her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, BA with Highest Distinction in Psychology and her MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University.

She completed her internship and Doctoral Fellowship at the Pediatric Psychology Clinic and Consultation Service at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD (APA Accredited). She has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Children’s National Medical Center, and Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.

Over the years, Dr. Ehlers has co-authored multiple publications and presentations on topics related to pediatric medical conditions (e.g., traumatic brain injury, infectious diseases, sleep disorders) and associated behavioral and neuropsychological sequelae and interventions. She has participated in conferences and training on subjects such as anxiety, play therapy, behavior analysis, neuropsychology, and pediatric psychology.
